OK,need some varied input here most of you I think know I have a 2001 build Rx-4 with 170,000km/106,000mi)
Car gets the best attention, all servicing done by me. Regular
changes, gearbox fluid at 100,000km(60k miles)
SO, latest annoyance is a noise from somewhere on slight overrun/deceleration.
There are no other transmission noises at all. Even when red-lined in all gears it accelerates smoothly and quietly.
New tail-shaft donut at 140,000km or so. All wheel bearings are sound I think as when you coast at speed there's no rumbles.
I don't think it's any CV joints being dry/worn except maybe the LH rear outer which needed a boot recently, but I doubt this would make the type of noise I am hearing.
Possible prop-shaft bearings/rubber mounts? I hope not because they aren't repairable. Haven't looked into that yet though.
ANy suggestions would be greatly appreciated fellows.
