There's a lock on the passenger door only (probably the driver's door on left-hand drive models.) If you bend down and look at the handle from below, you should be able to see a slot where the key goes. Insert the key in the slot and (carefully - don't damage the paintwork) prize the cap away. This will expose the actual lock, which unlocks with the key in the usual manner.

In theory, you should never need the key unless you get a flat battery. The key won't start the engine, but for it not to work either the transponder chip or the chip reader must fail. This is equally possible on a car with a conventional ignition key with a built-in transponder immobiliser.

Hi, the metal key that comes with the keycard is an emergency key that only lets you unlock the car, and disarm the alarm, not the imobiliser.

The "key" fits the front passenger door handle on RHD cars(typical French ... everyone drives on the left ... dont they ! .... merd )
... in the shaped pattern at the rear of the handle... be careful as its easy to break the cover on the door handle, and it costs a fortune to paint and replace.

Hope it helps
