Hopless mentioned the wheel bearings and the pad shims,
try cleaning and re-greasing the carriers with a little copper paste or something.
Easy to check for play in wheels, jack the front end up and try to wobble the wheels vertically, you shouldn't have any play. Also spin them and you should hear better where the noise is (or isn't) coming from.
You probably have a metal backing plate on the discs and sometimes these can bend onto the discs, in which case just get a screwdriver and bend the edges away slightly.
Could also be that the discs are lipped and the pads are grinding in the grooves. in which case you could maybe try chamfering the pads.
