Clio 2001 expression won't start?

Hi all, new to the site and not sure I have picked the correct forum for the problem?

My son has a clio 2001 1.2 that will just not start! It has always had an intermittant problem but done quite well recently until yesterday...

Even though he has 2 keys only one has really worked since he bought it nearly 2 years ago, all the electrics work but the immobiliser light is constantly flashing.

He has managed to download some software and get the key code we have tried entering it using the central locking button (several times) but it still won't start??

Can't get it to a garage they'll send a tow truck but at what cost?? my son just paid 200 to get it through its MOT (tyres & bulbs nothing major).

We don't know what to do next so any advice as to what to try next would be great.

Many thanks

Re: Clio 2001 expression won't start?

hello and welcome to the forum julie

im afraid i cant help you much, immobilisers are not something i know anything about but, copied from another thread -

If the immobiliser light stays on solidly with the ignition on then you have either put a fuse/relay back in the wrong place or there is a connection issue with the relay. The light should go out ater a few seconds with the igniton on,the flashes rapidly if there is a fault with the immobiliser system it's self,a solid light is usually a problem with the relay box (connection fault due to corrosion/water ingress, blown fuse, relay fault etc) under the bonnet.

hope this helps in some way? it may be worth using the search facility on the forum though, i bet there is a wealth of information lurking about with regards to immobilisers.
