Should I get a service?

I have a 10 month old Laguna II SportTourer. For the past few weeks ( since about 9000 miles) I have been receiving a warning to "replace oil soon".

I have now done just over 10000 and the service light has come on and the message is sayng "Service Change Oil ".

The question is: is this still a warning or should i get the car serviced probably two months earlier than I had expected?

Anyone know roughly how much I should pay for the first service ? (I have a 2 litre petol Auto model)

The service interval indicator is also time related as well as mileage.
If the indicator was not reset when the car left the dealers when brand new, the date would have been when it left the factory. That is why it appears as tho the car needs a service 2 months early. It also gives you a warning that the "service is nearly due" which is why you have had the replace oil soon message.

As long as you get the car serviced within 12mths of your delivery or the stated mileage ( there is usually a tolerance of 500 miles or 30days) the warranty will still be valid.
Your Renault dealer will then reset the service indicator - so then in 11mths time you will get the replace oil soon message, unless of course you do a high mileage and you will get that message when you hit the required message.

Shop around main dealers for service prices, but expect to pay around 200.

When It says "service change oil " is that just an oil change or does it mean a full service

Also can I take it into a non renault dealer garage will the computer be reset or does a renault dealer have to plug something in to reset it, i.e how does the car know its had an oil change

Many thanks

AFAIK the service indicator can be reset by yourself.

Whether the indicator is meanijng just an oil change or not I don 't know. Somewhere on the forums there maybe a "howto" on resetting the indicator. If not them maybe a web search will yield an answer
