83 mpg???

I have a Clio Dci 80, which I know is economical, but I took it on an economy run yesterday, and it clocked 83 mpg on a 120 mile run on country roads - is this possible?

Actually, I know it is possible, because I watched the fuel go in at the begining and the end of the rally, and drove it round the event, so I know it did it, but if Renault could make cars back in 2002 that could do this sort of thing, why are people still banging on about all these hybrids all the time?

Re: 83 mpg???

Mine as averaged 70mpg over 2 years best ever
was 100mpg over 20 miles from Ribblehead to
Lancaster quiet roads and a generally falling
gradient but a good achievement, I was told by
a mechanic at Renault it would do 100 mpg
if I drove at 35 mph in top, but I find its too high
geared it will do it but I never put it in top at
less than 40 It seems at its best in the 45/50 mph

Who would design a vehicle that falls over when you stop?

If you find a fix for your problem please let us know it will help others.
