Re: Calling all Laguna II Owners, need your comments!

The Lag2 2.2dCi that I had, I picked it up @ 12 ish months & 2 years warranty left. Before it got to the official first service of 18k it threw an EGR valve, a couple weeks later the turbo oil seals started leaking, had I have had to pay I was informed I'd have been looking @ around 2500. I hung on to the car until the warranty expired by which time I had to have a further 2 or 3 EGR valves replaced.

At this time I was doing approx 15k miles / year & was told I don't use or drive the car hard enough. Oddly enough theres only so much that the plod will allow, & I doubt a screwed EGR valve or turbo is a valid excuse in their eyes It was a bostin car to drive though.

Hi Luke,

I can't comment on Laguna II's, but in a way it's sad that your aunt is taking on your Vel Satis, but good on her for falling in love with it, and you should get her to join the forum if she's an onliney-person, as she's welcome to get in touch and attend this August Vel Satis meet, if it does now happen in the end.

Good luck with whatever car you end up getting next mate!

I've owned 2 Laguna 2.2's.

The electronics are a joke (typical Renault) but mechanically I have only ever suffered one major failure, the gearbox on my 2002 car.

I find the car reliable, economical, very spacious and generally cheap to run

Re: Calling all Laguna II Owners, need your comments!

We have 2 Laguna II's. Only brought them 6 months ago for some cheap temporary motoring.
Since then me and my wife love them both.

I have a 2003 1.8 16v Dynamique manual with 95k miles. 900
And hers is a 2003 3.0 V6 Dynamique auto with 40k miles. 950

Both cars are in really good condition, apart from they both have knocking from the rear suspension main bushings. So this needs doing. Mine is actually being done by a local mechanic this week for 260 alll in. So not too bad.

The 1.8 is quite a revving fun engine. It seems to love being thrashed to 6000rpm and is very smooth doing so. Still returns 32mpg even with my heavy driving.

The 3.0 V6 is a VERY rapid motor. It will hang onto the rear of a Subaru without much bother and makes a wonderful sound !, but i find the heavy V6 up front effects the handling when compared to my 1.8 4cyl.

Equipment levels are really nice. And the Auditorium sound system is loud and clear when turned up.

Points to watch for....
* Rear suspension arm bushings gone.
* Water leaking into passenger footwell when raining.
* Central locking not working.
* KeyCard buttons not working. (185 for a new card)
* Electric window issues. They are cable driven.

Hope this helps.

Hi Paul i hope you have happy motoring with your Lag 2's,Suspension bushes are a common fault with them,wAter leak in passenger footwell is prob a blockage in the front drain pipes below windscreen, electric window cables can be bought off good old e.bay, and your keycard probs can be solved by sending your keycard to Garry at,he's good and a quick turnround on repairing the micro buttons..hope this helps happy motoring..
