Speedo readings

Hi all,
Does anyone know which is likely to be more accurate at 70mph. The car speedo or the Sat Nav?

My Sat Nav regularly reads 4-5mph lower than the speedo between 60 and 70 mph, just wondered which was more likely to be correct/

Re: Speedo readings

The sat nav for sure
Speedos are all set to read "fast" by the manufactures. Usually 5% but can be up to 10%. Even worn tyres give a difference of up to 11/2%

Re: Speedo readings

I'd say the satnav as there are many variations which could alter the reading of the speedo. For instant, if you have aftermarket alloys or different sized tyres from factory spec then your speedo may read incorrectly!

Remember though, this is just my opinion! My speedo reads slightly slower than my satnav but to be on the safe side, through camera's on the M-Ways (which is the only time I really use the satnav) I will use the speedo

Re: Speedo readings

Sat nav no doubt about it sat nav is gps and is
normally accurate to about 1/10 of a mph

Who would design a vehicle that falls over when you stop?

Re: Speedo readings

Satellite navigation can vary depending on the terrain - winding roads and hilly country can cause misleading figures as the type used by most cars only works on two dimensions. But for general motorway or A or B roads it is fairly accurate.
