Re: Police Forces Wasting Money?!

Its for a similar reason that police cars are usually any colour apart from white, these days - it adds to the value.

Once the graphics have been peeled away, and the lights/siren removed - you'd be surprised how 'normal' the cars will look.

Funny thing is, the value of a Traffic Car will be less affected by mileage, than a Panda Car - mainly because many potential customers will differentiate between motorway miles & town use.

I almost bought an ex-traffic car myself once (it was a Granada 24v), and the only reasons why I didn't was because the V5 stated it was a Ghia (I wanted a Scorpio-trim level), and it had no sunroof - so I was a bit worried how it would be valued when it came to me trading it in.

Completely agree about discounting based on order volumes - its happened in fleet/hire car markets for years, and a similar concept for the private buyer is the 'pre-registered' or 'ex-demonstrator' special deals...

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.

Re: Police Forces Wasting Money?!

Apart from the initial cost there are maintenance and reliabilty factors.

Many people tend to forget there are many police vehicles that are used 24/7 everyday of the year and have mutiple drivers to contend with. And as anyone knows multiple drivers tend to create more wear and tear.

Better still why shouldn't our boys in blue have a bit of comfort and reliabilty when they are out there puting their lives on the line.
