See if you can talk them into giving you a discount on the Renault 5 year extended warranty, rather than the RAC one. It isn't the cheapest, but it genuinely does cover the car just like the original 3 years -i.e. pretty much everything bar consumables and accidental damage.
We looked at after-market warranties for the Clio, but were very disappointed with some of the exclusions. For example, electrical switches weren't covered on a lot of them, and bearing in mind that the French aren't best known for their reliable electrics, that's one of the things that I'd want to be covered.
