door locks

a strange thing today,

when i drove off in the laguna the central locking, locked all doors, almost like i had pressed the switch on the centre consol.

If i pressed the switch to release the locks, 2-3 minutes later they would lock

i disconected this switch thinking the switch is the problem- hey presto the doors still lock

Any ideas

That's what they're supposed to do... lock as soon as the car is being driven (usually within the first 100 yards or as soon as over 5 mph).

If you don't like the feature, you can disable it. Put the card in the slot but don't start the engine, then press and hold the 'unlock' side of the switch until you hear a beep (models with the voice synth say something along the lines of 'automatic locking disabled.')

Switching back on is the same, but pressing the 'lock' side of the switch.

Bearing in mind the increase in carjacking, and the fact that crooks will have stuff out of your car while you're stopped in traffic, it's not a bad feature to have enabled. The only argument against it is that it could cost vital seconds if the emergency services have to get you out of the car after an accident, though I maintain that after a life-threatening smash, there's a good chance that they wouldn't be able to get the doors to open, even if they were unlocked.
