Renault Laguna 2 - Estate Rear Wiper

I have a seized wiper assembly on my Laguna II sport tourer and to make matters worse, the nut fixing has come away from the glass. I've tried to strip it down but now Iím wrecking everything (I did buy the dealer CD's but lost disk 2 so all this is a guess at removal)
Couple of questions:
How do I have the retaining nut glued to the glass (i.e. windscreen people or is it a DIY task?)
Is the replacement part a complete unit?
I've tested for voltage over the connectors on the motor and I'm not getting anything (have not yet taken the motor off for testing) and was wondering if no current is a fuse issue or is it something to do with the fact the ignition needs to be on etc?
Anyone been in this situation before?
Thanks in anticipation

Hi. I have got the same problem. The actual mechanism was seized so i took it apart and greased it up to get the rod moving.

The motor also was not working so I opened it up and one of the internal diodes had come away at the soldered connector. I resoldered it and got it to work.

I also hav the metal part come off the glass. Have you sorted this problem out as I have tried various glues to stick it on but it still comes away. The next thing to try is windscreen glue.

I will let you know how I get on

Knew I should've posted about this when I had the prob!!

When I bought my Lag II, the rear wiper was also siezed. Motor was fine, but mech was stiffer than, er, a stiff thing...

In the end, I had to replace everything connected to the glass. Why?

1) Needed a new blade anyway!!
2) arm broke when removed from spindle - the arm was slightly corroded, as was the spindle, and the corrosion had welded them together
3) spindle mechanism stiffer than a stiff thing... also had part of wiper arm welded to it!
4) the nut against-ish the glass had also seized to the spindle mechanism. No amount of WD40 would free it. In the end a socket set with a very long handle loosened it... I thought, until I looked!! Snapped the thread!!

At least now though the whole lot came off the glass nicely!!

Cost me about £100 to replace the lot - plastic caps and all.

Greased it all up with copper grease when I refitted it to help prevent corrosion and further siezure.

Trouble is, I now need to strip it all down again to tighten the bolt against the glass!! Hope the arm doesn't break again!

Oh, if you're really stuck on how it all comes apart, I *may* still have the print out the parts desk gave me... or it may have been filed under "B" the last time I cleared my car out...

Some people say I'm stark raving bonkers, the others just smile and nod...
