Question Renault Laguna 2 - dCi Fuel Tank Reserve

Having a 02 laguna diesel, is anybody knowing what the reserve is on the fuel tank? Is there a warning light that comes on or is a case of monitoring the gauge?

Many thanks in advance

Wondered this myself a while back, so decided to find out

There is a fuel light that comes on when the computer read out say's there's about 60 miles left and the needle is pointing pretty much to the floor

Was suprised to see the readout go blank (well 3 dashes) when the light came on! Was expecting a countdown to 0 miles left

Yep, the Renault trip computer range wimps out just when you need it the most. Their excuse is that you should fill up ASAP after the warning light comes on (to stop the dregs in the tank clogging the pipes, probably) but I reckon that's cobblers, considering that other manufacturers have computers that count down to zero.

In my experience, you have less than 2 gallons remaining when the light comes on. If I had to guess a figure, I'd say it's around the 1.8 mark, but they're not necessarily consistent (even in the same car.)

It's probably safe to assume that you have a little over 1 gallon left from when the light comes on, so look at your average MPG and if you have more than that many miles left to go, you'll need to fill up.

My old Scorpio had the miles to go readout and it would count down to 0 miles to go, I could not find a petrol station once and I did 35 miles after the 0 before i did find one.
Must be too hard for Renault to make one like that.

Unhappy running out of diesel

I've had my 2003 Laguna 1.9 dCi a month now, with no problems apart from a faulty tyre pressure monitor. I recently ran out of diesel late one night, and the car hasn't started since despite me putting in about 10 litres that night!!! Any advice???
