Advice on buying

I have decided that the time has come to give up on my 05 plate Laguna dCi and get rid of it. I bought it back in Jan with 52K on the clock and have had nothing but trouble with it. Latest is that the steering is all over the place. Three seperate garages (one dealer) have looked at it and although they can see there is a problem no one knows what the problem is.

Anyway, this is my second Lag - first one I had from new was a 1.8 petrol. I had it for seven years and never had a problem. This is my first diesel and it's been an nightmare, so many problems. I really like the Lagunas and would like to get another but I'm worried about the reliability especially with the diesels. I am now looking at an 08 plate 2.0 dCi expresession with 22k on the clock for just under £9k. I know that Lagunas have a bad reputation, are the newer ones anymore reliable?

Also, on the whatcar website they value my current Lag at £3125 for part exchange. I assume thats for a car in perfect condition. In general does anyone know how good these valuation sites are and can I expect to get anywhere near this price.

Re: Advice on buying

I've had 2 laguna's - a series1 RT Sport and a series2 1.9 dCi.

The series1 was a dream, the series2 was a nightmare and put me off Renaults for life. I bought a Seat Leon and haven't looked back.
However, try using Parkers guide for prices, link below:

Political correctness defined:
Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end
