Megane Coupe 1.6

Hey all,

my dad recently fell for a brand new white Megane Coupe i-Music in my local dealership this afternoon and is fairly keen on buying it.

However due to a certain deal applying to that model in particular and the garage's inability to get in any more, he'd have to take the very one we saw in the showroom today. It has the 1.6 petrol in it.

His initial choice of new car was an Astra VXR, he'd also looked at the Skoda Fabia VRS so I highly doubt he'd like to stray away from something with a bit of punch (hardly blame him, he's owned a very plain bread 1.8 Vectra for the last two years!).

Basically, does anyone own one of these? Is it any good? Will he like it, bearing in mind his other choices?

Re: Megane Coupe 1.6

Based purely on looks then he won't go far wrong with the Megane. It is one of the nicest 3 doors on the market and gets good reviews and some evenrate it better than the VW scirrocco. The new Megane is much better built than the older ones with very few issues reported under warranty.

If your Dad wants out and out performance then the 1.6petrol engine is not the one to have, he needs a 2.0 petrol or the 2.0dci 170bhp is a very good engine.
However if he wants a combination of reasonable acceleration and fairly low running costs then the 1.6 petrol will be fine.

If he wants something with a bit of punch and can't afford one brand new then he could probably get a good deal on a nearly new one.
