Hello and please help me decide!!!

Been reading quite a few posts etc and I'm quite keen on a Vel Satis. I've had a lag V6 before, which was very nice but drank more than George Best...

I was wondering if people could help me decide A) whether I should get one and B) whether it should be a 2.2dci or 2.0T Petrol.

I like the fuel consumption benefit of the diesel but from what I can read it has its issues. I haven't read much bad about the 2.0T Petrol but its obviously a little (around 10mpg) worse at the pumps.

Any help would be useful ( although I can't promise my head will rue my heart!)

Re: Hello and please help me decide!!!

Hello mate,
saw my first vel satis in the flesh the other night and was very impressed.
I would definately go for the diesel. I've got a 55 laguna 1.9dci 130 and she pulls like a train. The performance was far better than i expected for an oil burner. Just to put things into context my last car was a versioniii wrx sti. Producing over 310bhp and 298lbft of torque so i know what a fast car feels like.
Considering how good modern diesel engines are, it would have to be a very special car to tempt me back to petrol again.
The vel satis, weight wise, is on a par with my missus grand scenic, i would imagine. Shes got the 120bhp 1.9dci and thats no slouch so the 2.2dci surley can't dissapoint.
Hope my waffling helped, chris.
