Talking More MPG on BP petrol?

Hi folks, Newbie here!
I wondered if anyones come across this. I filled up today on BP unleaded (not super) I reset the fuel computer, within minutes i was getting 45+ mpg! This was on a steady run but normally I would be lucky to get 40mpg. could this be down to BP? Well impressed Cheers.

Hello and welcome to the forum

The reason could be because you have just reset the computer. You wont get a true reading for a fair few miles IIRC.

I doubt very much BP's normal petrol gives that much better MPG.

Its probably got as much to do with the fact you commenced your journey (and fuel economy measurements) with a warm engine...

Re: More MPG on BP petrol?

If you reset your computer at the top of a long downhill and freewheel you could get a reading of 99mpg !

You need to drive 50 miles to get a true reading.

A problem well stated is a problem half solved !

Also, the downside is that BP tends to be the most expensive fuel, even for LPG.... although you do get Nectar points.
