More Clio Indicator problems

Had to call the AA out today. Indicator keeps coming on whislt I am driving. Mainly indicating left but also occaisionaly right.
AA man had no idea what it was. By the time he left it is now flashing as soon as you start the ignition without the car moving anywhere.
He messed around with the fuses and evetually took out the indicator fuse. The fault stopped but has left me without any indicators at all.
He was not sure if the fault was the hazard button or the indicators. Also if you try to indicate right it flashes left instead unless you are very forcefull.
I am reading about lots of you having to replace the UCH at a cost of 350. Hope it is not this. Where is the realy that some of you are talking about?
The AA man did not even know what the UCH was. It says UCH in several places on the fuse cover, I take it from the 350 cost this is more than a fuse to be changed?
