hi, just re fitted mine for the 10th time ! since I've owned the car, so you can guess my millage. Can't see what the fuss is about they only take 5 mins to remove and about the same to re fit.
I put copper grease on the bolts the first time I removed them and add a bit more when necessary after that. I don't seem to get much debris up under there few dry leaves is about all. I did notice it has a few scrapes on the underside so those speed bumps must have got me at some point, better than catching my sump !.

Some mention the aux belt catching up under the cam belt cover, ouch happened to me on my last Peugeot (1.9TD) aux belt broke went up under and did its best to spoil my day, luckily all it did was put the pump timing out which stopped the engine, crank and cam timing was ok phew! but it did break the casting of the aux belt tensioner which was an absolute PITA to fit in the rain on the street.

I vote to retain the under tray cover.
