Advice on jacking points - Espace

Any advice would be appreciated.

Whilst using a trolly jack on the jacking point provided (metal plate with a slot) - it started to bend a little.

1. Anyway using a trolley jack where is the best place to jack it (would it be using a block of wood just behind the jacking point). Also wher is the best point to place axle stands near the front of the car. I put them where there appeared to be a triangular type plate theat is bolted to the subframe.

2. Coincidently since I have had the car jacked up (for an oil change) there seems to be a very slight knocking noise that can also be felt through the steering - only happens when pullting away from stationary and usually when car is cold. It occurs when you press the accelarator and lift the clutch.

Can't think of anything I might have done to cause this?
