I think it is even easier to get a complaint dealt with if you send a letter to....it is on the back of the MOT failure page...the relevant government standards office. They MUST investigate and let you know what happens.
Even if the dealer worms his way out of this one, if a certain amount of complaints are made ( think it is 3 in a year ) then he is at huge risk of losing his license, as the bureaucrats will find it hard to give him the benefit of the doubt.
So even if you are fobbed off, your complaint will be held on record and so it does make a difference.
Sounds amazing to me that a car should fail its emissions on the third MOT. If it was going that way, why not year 2?
Or, as you no doubt suspect, why fail at all....which it didn't, just hours after in the other test.
If this dealer is a deliberate rip-off, we ALL need him off the license books. ( The fact that you can show a failed test and subsequent pass will get even the most naive bureaucrat to frown )
