This list is for a Megane but I'm sure the Scenic will be the same.

The fuse for left sidelights controls the following lights.

Lh front sidelight
Lh rear sidelight
Cigar lighter lighting
Radio display console
Speedo/ rev counter pod
A feed to the body control module UCH
Headlight adjuster switch lighting

Check out any of those you may have recently worked on and as you say, try disconnecting a few to narrow it down.

Don't forget the actual wiring which may have been trapped and causing a short circuit to earth.
