You have my sympathies Kitcar - but the subject of sub-contracting is irrelevant as your contract was with the AA. If you went to a Renault dealer any business you do is not with Renault directly but with the company concerned who have a sub-contractual agreement. Regardless of who carries out the inspection you had a deal with the AA and any redress must be made by them as legally it is their responsibility. Who carries out the inspection is not the issue but the quality of the work done. Stick to your guns and deal with the quality of work carried out as a result of your contract with the AA - don't get bogged down in sub-contractual isssues - that way you are more likely to have success. Don't let the AA try to blame someone else.
Good Luck and keep us posted.
