That'd be the 'selective unlocking' feature. It can be enabled or disabled, but only by the dealer. If your car unlocks all of the doors with one push of the button, then the system has been disabled. If one press only unlocks the driver's door and a second unlocks the rest, then the system is enabled.

The problem with the selective locking feature is that it effectively disables the handsfree sensors on all but the driver's door. If you regularly want to open the boot or one of the passenger doors first, then you still get to use the card. For most of us, this kind of defeats the object of having the handsfree card, so we get the system disabled. Apparently Renault twigged to this and started shipping most cars with the system disabled, although some (including mine) slipped through the net.
