According to the Haynes manual the 15 amp fuse feeding the mirrors ( f6 in the passenger fusebox ) is also an unswitched feed for the clock memory and radio memory.
the current drawn by these is practically nothing and, depending on the current drawn by operating the mirrors ( have to test this with an ammeter but surely can't need 15 amps) I would think it would be safer with a 5 amp fuse.
just make sure you have the radio code before you pull the fuse
