It's very easy to re-fit it,but I'm not sure it's available seperately from the seat base.
The best thing to do is to go to a breakers and take one off a similar car to yours.This should show you how it comes off and you should have a better idea on how it will fit back into yours.There is nothing to hold it place,it just clips in.You don't need to remove the seat as theres plenty of room underneath it.
I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
