Well finally today I have gave up and got my car back. I emailed
Renault customer services
on Tuesday who ignored it. I then phoned them and explained and they said leave it with us we will contact the dealer and phone you back tomorrow morning. Never got a phone call so called again to be told the same thing all over. Again today no phone call so got put onto a manager for Customer services who was an idiot and said you would need to complain to Evans Halshaw not us and if not then we should take it to trading standards!!I asked to be put through to somebody higher but apparantly it's company policy not to put anybody through to Renault UK headquarters. The service manager phoned me and I complained some more and he had the cheek to put me on speaker phone!
I phoned Evans Halshaw but can not speak to anybody until Monday so decided since I needed my car to go and pay the bill. I sat and talked to the service manager who got very worked up about it all.He said that on the Saturday when he phoned me it was simply to ask if it had been in an accident due to the fault code. When I said well when I asked why did you say you knew nothing about the key he said he didn't but I should not take this as him meaning it hasn't been done as I had already authorised this and he assumed i'd have known it was done, when they told me it wouldn't even be in stock until Monday.I said but it's up to you to communicate this with me and all he could say was yes you have a fair argument there but we won't do anything! Basically he just kept changing his story and in the end I gave up paid the money and walked out I just was not going to get anywhere. Anyway Customer services said I was entitled to an investigation report of the fault and a full invoice. I had a look through it and all he has given me is a lot of crap about the vehicles details. The only pages that mean anything are the one which had a printout from the clip saying that there is a fault code for the airbag computer. Somebody has written underneath this "couldn't get communication with injection system as a result of airbag fault as this causes a fault with the multiplex network". There is no printout of any page that says anything about not been able to get into the injection system which i'd expect to see.
There is also no page with anything to do with the key which i'm now told was done on Friday before anything to do with the airbag computer. I said why is there nothing and he said we knew the key was faulty right away we didn't need to plug it in to work that out, so I said well how did you work it out without the computer telling you the code isn't being recieved. He then said the computer did tell us(contradicting himself) but he didn't feel a printout was necessary. I then said well i've been told i'm entitled to a full report can you get me the pages and he said yes so I asked him to get them before I leave but apparantly it was to late the technicians were away home. So really all I have is a page from the clip telling me what I already knew that the airbag computer needed replaced but nothing to do with diagnosing the key or the injection computer being locked.
So in a sense i'm happy to have my car back but even though it might not get me anywhere feel I should not let this go. I have told the service manager I will be back for the other printouts which he said is fine but we will see.
I'm going to put together an email tonight that is going to be sent to Renault in France , Evans Halshaw and i'm hoping to try and find the email address for the Renault Chief Executive.
The sercive I have recieved from the dealership and Renault UK has been absolutely shocking and I could never take my car back to that garage. Renault UK don't seem very interested in this which is pathetic.
I have always liked my car and defended Renaults to everybody and said i'd get another one. After this experience though I just could not do it the company is an complete joke as far as i'm concerned. They have misled me, lied and then tried to cover it up but i'm left with no choice apart from to pay the bill if I want a car that runs.
Got a couple of smalls things that need fixed and then the car is up for sale.
