Re: Renault Privelege

I think the service light is on because the Abs light is on.

Fluctuating brake readings could be warped discs but doesn't generally cause a bad grinding noise.

Dodgy ABS can cause grinding noises and chattering at the brake pedal.

Would check all aspects of the front brakes including checks for siezed brake pads or caliper.

Check the toothed ABS reluctor rings on the front driveshafts and the sensor wiring.
If a ring is cracked, missing ect, it would bring the abs light on and give intermittant abs operation, ie. abs kicks in when it shouldn't.

There is usually a button in the front to isolate the rear electric windows. Has it been pressed.
Currently in lancs dave's garage:
Scenic 1.4ish 2002. Clio 1.2 2002. Thunderbird 885 1995, Suzuki Gsx600f 1989. Fazer 600 2002. Specialist cement mixer for proffessionals only, not yer average forum numpty. Your car is probably worth more than all that lot put together.
