My Scenic II 1.6 AT also has a 1-2nd problem.
I need a bit of advice.
Here are the symptoms:
a] On a flat road or small incline the transition between 1st and 2nd 'takes long' - during this period the vehicle gains very little speed while the engine revs increase slightly - when it eventually goes to 2nd, the revs drop and the vehicle starts accelerating. Transitions between other gears is 100%.
b] Pulling away on a steep incline the above transition takes even longer. It does not kick back to 1st.
b1] The dealer's answer on b] is the low torque of the 1.6. They say that is the reason why Renault have discontinued the Scenic 1.6 AT, only the 2.0 is available with AT.
a1] The answer in b1 does make sense to me (on a very steep incline). I however doubt if this explains the problem in a]. I think there might be another problem which aggravates the 'torque' problem in b]. Any input ons this will be appreciated.
