You'll be able to pick up a standard CD player relatively cheaply from Halfords or similar - you may need a wiring harness adapter (I'm not sure however). You'll also need a fascia adapter for the car, as the standard radio/cass has a curved front rather than a standard slot. These are available from car audio shops (about £16) or Renault (about a tenner). If you think he'll want to use the steering wheel controls then make sure you get a head unit that can be operated with one and you'll also need an adapter lead for that also (I think around £20 depending on the make of head unit).
If you want a brand new factory type CD player then you could try the Renault dealer; but I'm guessing that they won't be cheap if they do stock them! I got a perfectly good second hand Renault one from
