It's a different model Renault, but a lot of stuff applies the same across the range...
There is an option on the dashboard programming to enable or disable the option if the car had an electronic handbrake or not on the scenic. I believe this can be reprogrammed with a Renault CAN CLIP. The base level Scenic (Authentique) has a manual handbrake (vs electronic on all the others), so this is why the option exists. Maybe the same on the Laguna?
The other option is to get a s/h (working) unit, cut the brake cables off and plug that into the car. That way the computers can merrily think its engage and disengage the brake.
