Re: laguna electronic to manual conversion
Brand new units need programming by Renault (or using Renault tools), as they don't know if they're supposed to be on a auto or manual and haven't had any VIN put in.
Wrong..... EPB modules are NOT vehicle specific. They do not have a VIN programmed. They can & have been, taken from scrappy's & fitted. Often they just work. Even if from a different model, forum members have used DDT2000 to reset an EPB just by searching for the car it came from in the software. The MAJOR difference is Scenic v/s Grand, as the cables are longer & the newer types that have individual motors on the calipers. Can't comment on Lagunas, but can't see Renault doing owt special unless really necessary.
Please read the posts on EPB's, most informative.
Common faults (in no particular order) seized cables, seized balancer, duff relay, dodgy motor.
Lots of success stories for little money & less trouble than a conversion.
