Are you sure it's the relay. I had a similar problem with my Laguna where the button needed to be kept pressed. This turned out to be the switch that detect the box is in neutral.
Replaced and now a single short press keeps the starter turning until the engine fires. I only replaced the switch because my reverse lights and parking distance sensors weren't working.

How does it start with the clutch depressed?
