Nice idea Kris - I have tried this before but when I worked out the extra travel costs (fuel, wear and tear, etc) in getting to the cheapest filling station any savings I made were swallowed up. In many cases I was in a negative position.
Caveat Emptor (Buyer Beware)

Additionally I live in Northern Ireland and it has been discovered as many as one in three filling stations were selling laundered diesel or diluted petrol. There have been numerous case where car and truck owners have had to pay thousands for repairs as a result. To combat the situation one fuel supplier has introduced measures to stop this. The tanker drivers from the company lock and seal the filling station tanks after filling and they only have the key. Luckily one of these controlled stations is only about a half mile from where I live.
