Hi Gary - yeh I would agree it looks like a heavy duty inline fuse - and their needs to be a serious short in the system for it to blow - basically its there to prevent fire. I have seen similar type fuses fitted to commercial vehicles so I suggest your best bet is to contact an auto-spark who may be able to guide you in the right direction of a fix or who may be able to supply such an item. Most important of all it is vital you find out what caused it to fail in the first place
Similar devices are used in the marine environment.
