It was very nice of them to charge you for refurbishing the head and then telling you that the block in fubar'd!.Surely they should have noticed it when they removed the head?

It is impossible to say how long your engine will last,but oil usage will be a good gauge of how healthy it is.As it gets worse I would expect to hear piston slap on cold start up which will gradually get worse.

I do have serious doubts as to wether the bores are really that bad though.......

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
