Hi Mickey,

As jonault has already mentioned.

Dephaser pulleys on the 1.6 engine from a few thousand miles to 45000 seems to be no reason why.
Early 1.4s can suffer from idle problems.
failure to start when pressing brake or clutch due to cable dislodging fix is simple.
Tyre wear could be excessive when fitted with the 17s.
Brake squeal can be excessive, Renault eventually introduced a fix for this Jan 07.
Hands free can be troublesome and expensive to repair outwith warranty.
Electrics in general can play up.
Some 1.6s have cold running problems Renault still working on a fix for this since the cars introduction in 2003 ?
Reports of steering rack failure.
Quite a list but this can vary from car to car the early models seemed the most troublesome,

Many owners have had no major problems and enjoy their car even owners who have had problems have preserved despite having niggles because they like the car so much.

You need to take care when purchasing, check service history, you can contact a Renault Dealership and ask for a print out on any warranty work done on your chosen car,I would not buy a Megane without a very good warranty nor any modern car what can seem a simple repair can turn out quite expensive.

Quite a bit of info on Parkers regarding the Megane II.
