HI od9,

My first Laguna was a Petrol, although it was a Laguna 1 (1994 M reg 1.8)

Anyway, I had a similar thing happen and it turned out to be the engine temperature sensor.

Although on diagnostics it was reading ok as it was giving out a voltage that was within an acceptable window.

But what it had actually done was rusted through inside and shorted out.

It was making the ECU think the engine was cold and therefore over choking it.

It started intermittently and then got worse to the point where I would pull up to traffic lights it would be idling at about 2500 RPM.

I don't know much about the Laguna II petrols but it might be worth a shot.

Currently in Benjamin74's garage:
Laguna II 1.9 dCi 2003 Initiale Sport Tourer
