Hi Yid - I my humble opinion I suggest you get another garage. The glow-plug light comes on for a number of reasons
1. Water in the fuel - when was the filter last changed
2 Fuel injection fault
3.. Dirty or duff EGR valve

Looks like they went for the most expensive
If the glow-plugs were not reaching their correct temperature it would mean problems when starting - the glow-plugs are only needed for around 15 seconds during start-up
