Damge doesn't always occur as a result of the accident - damage can also be caused in the recovery process. Once seen a Ford Fiesta with very slight frontal damage and repaired under insurance but when put back on the road it travelled crab-ways. It turned out the rear suspension had been damaged by being unceromoniously yanked onto the back of the recovery truck. Better still I have seen serious underbody damage caused to brand new vehicles by over-zealous delivery drivers over-tightening the tie down chains.
