Is this a UK spec car? I've seen the three button card with the Auto+Lock button in the manual, but I didn't think they existed on the UK cars.

A UK spec 2004 model should not have handsfree operation at all, as this feature was not introduced in the UK until the phase 2 facelift came out in 2005. Even the facelifted model does not have a card with a Auto+Lock button (oh how I wish it did, it'd make life a lot easier) - instead, the third button lets you activate the 'see you home' headlights and side lights remotely.

Can you start the engine without putting the card in the slot? If not, then your car doesn't have handsfree card operation. Quite how you've ended up with a 3 button card is a bit of a mystery - presumably a new card has been required at some time, and only 3 button ones were available. Having said that, I always thought that the 3 button cards weren't compatible with the non-handsfree system.

It's all very mysterious.
