Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum....please be gentle!!!

I'm also having starting problems with my Clio. The engine turns over but doesn't fire (this happens frequently) usually after I have driven somewhere, parked, and then try to leave.
I took it to the local garage and they ran it through the computer. They said it was the crankshaft position sensor, and that it was misfiring. Also, there were some wires on a plug at the top of the engine (sorry I'm basically engine illiterate) that had been exposed due to a loose housing wearing through the cable sleeve- the guy said this could be affecting the crank sensor and vice versa.
I have booked the car in to the renault dealer for next Monday, however, after reading the forums, it seems I will be charged way more by renault for any work done.

Does this ring true with anyone? Does it sound like the crank sensor? Or the wires?
