any ideas?

You can do all of the paperwork, but the car will need to be registered in either your wife or your daughter's name. If the car is registered in your name, then you'll need to get the nominee's name changed to yours (£25 for a new retention certificate) or re-register the car in your wife or daughter's name.

Just to add: You will lose all rights to the existing registration on the car, so if this has any sentimental value whatsoever, then be sure to put it on retention. When you eventually transfer your private reg to another car, your old car usually gets its original reg back, but it becomes tied to that car - you can still put a different plate on the car, but you can never transfer that plate to a different one.
