... I did check it wasn't a left hand thread, looks standard from what I could see of the spindle sticking through the nut.

It's very tight I can tell you that....Not recommended but I chanced my arm and gave it a quick couple of blasts with my impact driver that would normally shock it loose but no joy

I'll try your tip of building a mould around it and letting the release fluid sit over night.
