Someone else had a similar problem and drove it to Renault with the alarm going off and they sorted it and didn't charge him, sorry couldn't find the thread. It's worth a try, just remember to rig up the siren round the corner just before you get to them.
They may still charge you though, the other chap may have caught them on a good day.
Sorry my advice is not a fix but a suggestion at least
