I had a repair done on mine, and there's details in a thread around here somewhere. The part that's been repaired is noticeable when the windscreen is clean because it appears to be a slightly different colour to the rest of the glass. My guess is that they've had to drill through the athermic layer, and so that part is clear resin without the coating.

It looks like a bit of a water spot, which is a vast improvement on the chip that was there before. If it's free on your insurance policy then get it done - it's certainly better than driving round with a stone chip, and if you're not happy, then just pay the excess and have a new windscreen.
