hi there yes the bic unit does work that way for all intence and purposes!
what I keep trying to explain to you is that the instrument panel will not shut down like you are describing if the immobiliser is playing up!
You need to thing less complex here! when you turn the ignition on the dash lights up as normal yes? red led goes out yes? crank engine and you then get a noise from the dash and everything goes blank yes! this is because there is a main power voltage drop!
try to think this way! you have 2 buckets filled with water these are linked together with 2 hoses got it so far? so 1 bucket is your battery the other is all your consumables the 1st hose out of the bottom of the bugket it your live feed the 2nd hose out of the bottom of your bucket is your earth! now what is happening to you is like taking a hose out of the bucket! what happens all the water comes out and this is what is happening when you turn the key to activate the starter the fault is like pulling the hose out and you get a massive power drop!
which is why I keep saying check all the earth conections to the engine take the off and clean them including the battery terminals they may be tight but it isnt unknown for there to be corrosion between the terminal and battery pole!
