Re: Renault - Laguna II - Front springs broken

On spring compressors.

This single finger style, which is the old set I had, did not seem to sit on the spring with any security.
This style has twin, shaped fingers that do seem to stay secure.

I only past the pictures to show the generic type not as any recommendation of the particular makes, just the style.
I bought my new set from Screwfix and was happy with them but probably others better out there.
About the only issue I had was that the position to get enough compression seemed fussy and not easy to pick the right start position.
I wrapped and secured nylon cord around compressed spring to hold shut while I re-positioned the compressors for a second bite to gain the extra half inch compression I needed.
Currently in Dancingdad's garage:
Qashqai 1.6 spark driven, Kia Sedona 2.9 TDI, Scenic II 15DCi 2004 (SORN) not quite RIP.
