Actually wasn't a case of getting a grab on an extra coil .
The "barrel" shape of my spring meant that I could only grab 3 coils even though I could reach the next.
And the angle they were on the springs just did not inspire any confidence in the single finger type.
Decent cord, leather belt, nylon webbing..whatever helps with safety as well.
