A less drastic way to remove the headlight is firstly open the bonnet and remove the front grille which is held on with torx headed bolts and I think you'll need a long T30 or T40 to get to the lower bolts just above the top of the bumpe. An R reg Laguna could be either phase 1 or phase 2.On a phase 1 you have to remove the separate indicator,on a phase 2 the indicator is integral with the headlight. The bolts that hold the headlight in are(from memory!) 10mm headed and are fairly easy to access.
I can't for the life of me remember how to remove the mirror, but if no one else replies in the next hour or so I'll go have a look at my phase 2 Laguna and give you instructions!
